The Buzzard

The Buzzard (Buteo buteo) at Chidswell Heybeck 2021

Watch out for this magnificent raptor, soaring in the sky.

Two have been seen circling opposite each other in perfect formation.  Is this courtship behaviour?  It could be.

A member of the Kites, Hawks and Eagles family it has a fan shaped tail with broad rounded wings.

Buzzards are territorial and stay.

Buzzards are at the top of the food chain and need a strong, healthy and varied landscape as that provides a home for them to live and a home for all the species that they eat such as small mammals, birds, carrion, earthworms and insects.

Breeding success depends on a good food supply and a lack of interference from humans.

Buzzards are here!

Let’s keep a home for the buzzard here!
