Help us record the wildlife at Chidswell!

Will you help us record the wildlife at Chidswell and surrounding areas? Download the iNaturalist App and join in!

In the absence of reliable ecological assessments from the Church Commissioners (land owners), we are conducting our own ecological and bio-diversity surveys.

And you can help!

We are using the iNaturalist smartphone App to record and upload our sightings around the area of the proposed development. These observations are verified by the scientific community, giving us a validated record of the local wildlife and plant life.

All you need to do is take a photo with your smartphone (enabling location), upload to the App and pick the species from the suggestions offered.

It couldn’t be easier and it’s a great way to engage children and adults alike! Fancy a trip to the woods?

We will be creating a ‘Group Project’ where we can combine sightings from the whole community but you can get started on your own iNaturalist project today – then just add to the community project when it’s up and running.

Birds, mammals, insects, butterflies, caterpillars, plants, fungi – all can be uploaded, verified and included in our bio-blitz.

Here’s what we know are in the woodlands and surrounding area:

We don’t have any insects, caterpillars or butterflies yet – would be great to add some to our finds so far! And even better if you can find a red listed bird or two!

You can also upload sound recordings of the birdsong for verification if you think you know the species of bird that is singing / calling.

Please remember to stay on the woodland paths and observe the countryside code.
